When will I receive BRRREWER if I back your campaign on Kickstarter?

We are ready for production, meaning that the manufacturing process will start before the end of this campaign. Here is why we can already start shipping your SUPER EARLY BIRD – EU towards the beginning of August. Expect to receive it within August (EU) or October (worldwide) according to the reward level.

Why does SUPER EARLY BIRD ship to EU before the rest of the world?

As mentioned in the previous question, we are about to start producing BRRREWER. Therefore, 250 units can be shipped right after the Kickstarter campaign ends. We decided to dedicate them to EU countries only as we already have all food grade certifications. We are completing all paperwork for extra-EU law (in particular FDA final approval in September). We want to make sure that we are on schedule without letting down your expectations as you trusted us in our campaign. Therefore, we plan on shipping Super Early Bird – Worldwide early October.

What is the policy as to transport?

As for our policy we want to ensure the best services. We use as forwarders only primary companies as FedEx, SDA, UPS, DHL or similar. These shipping costs are higher than low-cost services as they provide full tracking and insurance. This means that after sending your BRRREWER you will be able to track it and in case any component is damaged it will be replaced free of charge.

Will I have to pay duties/VAT to receive my reward?

BRRREWER is made in Italy and within the EU no additional duties will be charged. Outside the EU, this is something out of our control, as it depends on your local tax law. It is possible that products sent to you will be charged duties upon arrival, which will always be the backer’s responsibility. If you have any doubts regarding duties or VAT please contact your post office, they will help you out!

Can I put BRRREWER in the fridge during the brewing process?

Cold drip coffee is usually brewed at room temperature. If you would like to brew in a fridge, that is completely possible as long as you have enough space in it ;) The fridge internal temperature is approximately 3 - 5 °C (37 - 41 °F) and BRRREWER components are perfectly suitable for these conditions.

How much ground coffee should I use to make cold brew with BRRREWER?

BRRREWER is designed with a brew ratio 1:18, thus 25 g of ground coffee with 450 ml of water. Anyway, its versatility allows you to experiment other coffee-to-water ratios according to your own preferences. Also, we are currently considering developing an additional coffee basket that would allow to get a more concentrated drink (e.g. brew ratio 1:10) still using the same water quantity. How much water should I use to make cold brew with BRRREWER?

The water tank has a capacity of 450 ml. You won’t need a weighing scales since the water tank has a mark that allows you to pour exactly that water amount.

How can I set the drip rate?

You can set the drip rate by rotating the precision valve counterclockwise (to let the water flow and increase the drip rate) or clockwise (to slow it down and stop it). For an optimal extraction we advise on setting 20-30 drops per minute, so as to have around a drop every 2-3 seconds.

Are the two membranes identical?

Yes, they are identical and, as such, interchangeable. Place one of them at the bottom of the coffee basket, then add ground coffee and position the other membrane on top. The upper membrane ensures that water is spread uniformly throughout coffee grounds with consequent uniform permeation (the risk canalisation is therefore avoided). The lower membrane catches all solid sediments and ensure a perfectly clean cup. We decided to make both the membranes removable so as to facilitate the clean-up. Have a look at our tutorial!

Do I need paper filters or additional elements for brewing coffee with BRRREWER?

No, you won’t need any disposable items. The two membranes are reusable and durable.

Where do I have to place the coffee basket?

The coffee basket has to be positioned on top of the carafe. The water tank needs to be placed on the frame, instead.

Is BRRREWER dishwasher safe?

We developed this product with the end-user in mind, so the carafe, coffee basket, water tank and the two membranes are dishwasher safe. The frame and wooden base are not, but you do not need to wash them that often. Anyway, we find it easier to wash BRRREWER by hand. It really takes no time. Check out our tutorial and you’ll see for yourself! :)

How do I choose the colour of my BRRREWER?

If we hit the stretch goal, we will send you a survey once the campaign is over where you can choose your preferred colour. If you have ordered 2 or more units don’t worry because you will be able to choose different colours. Anything you wish! We will also ask you where you want us to send your package right after the campaign ends.

Does BRRREWER have a product warranty?

In compliance with EU laws, you have a 2-year product warranty starting from the delivery date of BRRREWER. This warranty covers manufacturing defects being detected in that period. Damage and normal wear-and-tear are not covered.

Do the e-book and paperback book have the same content?

No, they don’t. The e-book features cold brew recipes and will be made available to all the backers that pledge for a BRRREWER System. The paperback book features insights into coffee mixology and the exclusive coffee mixology recipes developed by Francesco Corona.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
